First blog from the US!!!

hey guys n girls… here comes my first post from the US!!!

i safely arrived at LA international airport on 21st, 8something at nite, after 18hours++ of flight.. some officers were waiting for our arrival, they were En Wan, Cik Intan etc. (They are actually JPA officers n MSD officer)..we got into a shuttle bus n reached our first hotel, which was Hacienda Hotel. They ordered food for us, which we had to pay USD$10. It’s not considered expensive, i guess. Coz we got one BIG box of fried rice + BIG fried chicken + belacan. i think it’s hard to get tis kind of food later on. haha!! after the dinner, we walked to a nearby hypermarket, Ralphs, first mart tat i entered.. then, we spent our very first nite in the hotel. my uncle called me n he helped me to call home, so tat my parents noe i had finally arrived.

the next day, we were to leave LA. so sad, we could juz spend a very short night in LA.. We were in the shuttle bus again, to the airport. we had to check in, with shoes off to go through the custom checking. Fortunately, nothing happen. everyone passed through successfully. we took a plane from LA to Denver, then drom Denver to Detroit. And, we did this by ourselves, without any officer i mean.

finally, we reach Detroit n tis time, many seniors,En Kamal n Pn Enson(Malaysian Student Department-MSD officers) were waiting for us. the airport is smaller compared to another two airports. Unfortunately, one of my fren’s luggage was lost!! Thank God,  she managed to get it back now!! If such thing happened on me, i’ll surely cry!! u r so tough, pei ying!!! there were so many vans n cars, and all our luggages managed to b "squeezed" into those cars.. Thanks to all the seniors who helped us to carry all our luggages. they were so heavy!! we didn’t bring stones!! they were actually gold!! haha… i’m joking…..

okay, now we reached our uni, UMICH!!! it was 1something in the middle of the night… szuling n i went to the senior’s house to overnite. her name is Vivian.. she’s so friendly n helpful… we slept at 3am if i’m not mistaken.. the next daY, 9 sth we met with other frens, and followed two seniors, Chai n Qi MIng to do some stuff, like get UM-ID card, open a bank account etc… they really helped us a lot…. thank Q so much, Chai n Qi Ming!! At nite, we went to a nearby Chinese restaurant to get some chinese food. the first dish most of us ordered was sweet n sour pork with rice. it’s USD$5.77… it’s quite nice, but it’s too much for us to finish!!! later on, some seniors fetch us out, to MEIJER to buy some stuff like pillow, comforter, etc…. the roads r actually quite dark, but the seniors could recognize the roads, so no prob!! hehe=p

now comes the day we moved into our own residence hall!!! i shared a cab with szuling, the cab is actually a van. it cost us USD$10 per person.. but, really worth it.. coz i’ve so many heavy stuff… my first impression of my residence hall, wow, it’s like a hotel, i mean the corridor.. when i opened my door, using a card n 4digits of pin-code, it’s quite okay.. at least it’s big enuff for me, coz it’s a single room… but, felt a bit lonely, coz i don have roommate… first thing to do was cleaned my room n unpack my stuff, met with poh choo, who stays in the same residence hall with me.. there’s actually a few people only, in the residence hall, coz people didn’t move in tat early.. i’ve to go to the toilet alone, which needs my card n pin-code to open, too.. it’s a bit scary actually, but i guess later on when more people move in, i don have to b alone ady.

the next day(25th of august) was orientation day. we met quite a number of international students, from Japan, Korea, UK, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, everywhere around the world!! And, we got to noe a former-Canadian, who juz got his US Green card(permanent resident of US), and he is originally came from China.. we also met with one Malaysian, private student, who transfered from Taylor’s College. we listened to several talks on tat day.. and, we had lunch at South Quad (one of the residence hall) dining hall. The food is quite nice, but a bit too cheezy for me, i guess..

okay, the second day of orientation.. listen to talk again.. well, after lunch, we joined a picnic which was really great!! i will regret if i din join.. haha!!! somebody picked us up in front of International center, opposite South Quad. And, the lady who picked me, szuling n puiyeen was Dawn, two girls sitting in front were Gabby n Molly. we reached the destination, which is a house near Baseline Lake after half an hour or mayb more that tat.. tho house is so big n the surrounding was so nice!! the first thing i did was getting on board on the big boat. he did let us try how to ‘control’ the boat. so, i actually got the chance to ‘drive’ the boat. haha!! it’s really a great experince.. next, i queue up for jet-ski!! it was my first time… And, i would say it was fun n exciting although i was just sitting at the back n not the one who control it!! it was like riding horse n fortunately i din fall into the lake.. hahaha!! really very very nice experience!! later on, there were so many food waiting for us. we played ping pong, too. there were ping pong table, foosball, pool upstairs. can u imagine how big is the house? It is really great!!!Thank you so much, the host family n everyone who prepared all these for us!!! we were so so tired!!!

huh!! it was really a memorable trip!!

ops, now come the day for Chemistry placement.. couldn’t imagine how bad is it.. coz i din touch chemistry for so long ady. =p hahah!! after the test, we planned to go to Briarwood mall, but too bad, it was raining when we were about to wait for the bus. And, tat’s why, i’m here, in "Fish Bowl" (people called tis com lab "fish Bowl", it’s really big), writing blog…… hehe=)

okay, i guess i’ll stop here.. tis is the longest blog i have till now, if i’m not mistaken…… hehe=)

P/s: i’ll upload my photos when i got them from my frens, too bad, i haven’t get my camera which i planned to buy here…
